    functionality
The price is budget responsible and it works great. It serves the purpose and just what I need, nothing too fancy it’s a simple hearth monitor without ALL the whistles and bells that can drive you ” Crazy ” to set up.-CH

    Do not buy this product.
I bought the EZON heart rate monitor watch primarily for the heart rate function, and that function does not work. I thought it might be weak batteries so I installed fresh batteries (at the extra cost of $25 at a jeweler), but that made no difference. The heart rate displays for a short time then disappears, and the rate that it shows is drastically low (verified by manually counting my heart rate). The clock and chronograph functions do work, but the hourly chime and alarm functions do not.

Reasonable design at a reasonable price.
I was not very optimistic when I ordered this. It has plenty of problems noted in the reviews. Many of the negative comment are valid in my experience after using this for a few weeks: like the chest strap attachment is impossible – you have to step into this and pull it up, and never unbuckle it; the wrist strap is really bad. There are probably better options, but at 3 to 5 time this price. I was tempted to give it 5 stars, but then nobody reads the 5 star reviews – they typically come from people who never even try to use the product :-)The readout is very easy to set up and to read. I don’t mount it on my wrist – I mount it on the handle bar. Wrap the bar with a 1 inch wide strip of thick packing material, secured by duct or electrical tape and use it in place of your wrist. You can switch from heart rate to time, etc. with just a touch of a button. If this works for a year or so I’ll be quite happy.Update: I changed my 3 stars to five. As you see above I had some ideas that may actually help users work with this unit so I didn’t use 5 stars because nobody reads 5 star reviews 🙂 Later I had a problem with the wrist strap – it broke off. As noted by other reviewers that strap is problematic – it’s too stiff, especially where it connects to the watch. That part is absolutely rigid rather than flexible like a pin connection that a normal wrist watch would have. You need to be careful not to flex that joint too much because it will brake rather than flex. And mine did brake. So I told the seller, he apologized and sent a replacement which I got in a few days. Great service which you don’t often see these days.Just a note about putting on the chest strap – after using it a dozen times I really do find it quite easy to just “step in” and pull it up to position rather than dealing with the buckles which are not easy to attach. I just never detach them.I spent a lot of time looking for a chest strap HRM with a simple readout that does not require pulling out a cell phone. This is the only one I could find, and it’s quite inexpensive besides.

Good HR monitor, poor user interface
This watch does a good job as a basic heart rate monitor for excersize giving basic on the fly information. It also works well as a watch, stopwatch, and alarm. It falls short on the user interface which is cryptic and difficult. It also only gives you a heart rate number but does not give percent of max. It will give a hard to read symbol of a 5 increment HR range (too low, low, mid, high, too high). Even with the manual for reference it was difficult to navigate and set. Once everything is set then your OK.My favorite feature is it does not require you to be monitored with your data stored in the cloud AND it does not require a subscription for full functionality. If you are looking for %Max and other analytics as you exercise, go elsewhere. If you are looking for a basic heart rate monitor that, once set, you use for basic data, this one fits the bill.If privacy is of concern this is a great choice.I only use this to view my heart rate real time during excersize. This, price point, and privacy is why I chose it.

Does one thing extremely well, a great reason to buy it
I have been using this heart rate monitor for about a year now a few times a week. For my purposes it has just one function and it is brilliant that: it has a very big heart rate display, it stays on always, it connects immediately.I had been using a 20 year old Cateye HR monitor which finally broke and replaced it with this unit. It is similar in that it uses some old synch technology which pre-dates bluetooth and ant, etc . In fact the watch part synchs with the old chest monitor from Cateye.Perfect for someone who needs constant readout and does not want to have to connect to an app. Highly recommended for this narrow purpose. I bought second one already as a spare .

    Great display, questionable accuracy.
This has one, and only one, purpose: display your heart rate. Does it display a number? Yes, very clearly. What number is displayed? Good luck. I’ve used it for several different bicycle rides, as well as running now. Chugging along, in the middle of a workout, knowing I’m somewhere in a given zone, I glance down, and… I see a heart rate that would put my resting pulse to shame. Then, 25 seconds later, it’s right around where it should be. Accuracy is highly suspect with this model, is all I’m saying.

Large character display, Large buttons for control, simple, but complete set of functionsExcellent value for the moneyCon: Heart rate takes up to a minute to displayCon: picks up interference from other devices if you are too close to them. My car radio for example, or an electric shaver.Time of day, Stop watch, Heart rate monitor. Very useful for exercise.I use it for walking exercise over a known distance course. I use it to time my performance and monitor my heart rate.TIP: forget about spit or salt water. This device needs conductive gel. Easy to find and buy on Amazon. Not expensive. Works very well and takes very little. Adjust the strap so that it is tight enough that it stays in position.I tested the battery from the wrist device after 7 months and it was still at the expected 3V level. No instructions are provided for changing the battery in the wrist device.Remove the backremove the white plastic cover from under the clips.Lift the edge of the clip where you see the reset displaySlide in a new 2032Reverse to finishUpdate after nearly a year of use:That conductive gel is very useful. Use it very sparingly thoughThe chest strap has a 2032 battery in it. Very easy to replace. I use min HRM every other day for about an hour. That chest strap battery is good for maybe 3 to 6 months of use. The 2032 battery is available everywhere and costs very little. I buy mine in the dollar store for 3 for $1.25 Cdn. When that battery starts to fade, you will see all kinds of strange behaviours.

It’s hard to find a reliable and reasonably priced “stand alone” HRM and watch, most seem to need a smart phone with GPS and apps and monthly fees.I’m not a runner but an avid long distance walker and need a HRM that will let me know whether or not I’m maintaining my walking heart rate at an even, slightly elevated, level.Preferably a watch that has a big bold font and only requires a glance to see my heart rate.Initially I couldn’t get a consistent reading with this watch, my heart rate readout was all over the place, but I found a solution:Open the wrist band to it’s widest position and push the band up to your elbow. This brings the HRM and watch receiver closer together, resulting in a more accurate reading and bonus easier to see. Also, it took me a while to figure out how to turn the watch off – just press all four corner buttons all at once until it turns off – but you might delete all your settings – so not a good idea.Next thing was setting the time -Press the left side top button and hold for 3-5 seconds to enter the settings mode.Press the left side bottom button and press again to select the time setting.Press right side top button to increase value.Press right side bottom button to decrease value.Overall I’d say this EZON HRM watch is a good basic place to start, before spending hundreds of dollars on a smart watch that you might not need.Hope this helps if your undecided …

I have a polar heart rate monitor watch, but want to buy this as a backup since the old one is not functioning so well anymore. After a week of usage, I conclude the following:1. The heart rate monitor is accurate. I believe this is the most important thing for the watch.2. The watch is can be set to alert when heart rate reaches higher or lower limit (per user presets).3. The lcd display is clear with backlit.4. The heart rate strap is comfortable.5. One thing I wish this watch to provide is the recording of exercise detail (I.e. workout duration, calories burned, heart rate changing status), but it doesn’t seem to have the function yet.6. The watch has the chronograph and alarm function. In conclusion, this HRM watch does satisfy the essential needs of tracking the heart rate, it could be a 10/10 if it tracks the workout performance. I like it for its affordable price.

After a month the light button fell off, while on a 2hr ride in the rain. Did not notice until after the ride. By that time it was too late, water got in, did not work.Poor quality construction.

Update. Unreliable readings. Using saliva as instructed wouldn’t even give me a reading. I used conductive gel to get a reading. On a 10 min treadmill workout, I got from 81 at rest then slowly built to 116 and stayed then 155, 190, 220, 315 then nothing. Have adjust my chest strap over a dozen time to get a reading. I got to 134 my target and verified it vita a blood pressure monitor and while still keeping pace, dropped to 88, then jumped to 112, 118.Sorry but must return it.Nice large numbers that are easy to read and works well. The alarm is rather quiet and the chest band will not pick up heart rate with only moisture or saliva, I had to use a gel.
